UNMIL Helicopter Crashed

The United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) has announced that on Saturday, 31 May, 2008 at approximately 14:20 GMT, one of its MI-8 helicopters belonging to the Ukrainian Aviation Unit crashed during landing at Greenville , Sinoe County .

An UNMIL statement released over the weekend said there were no passengers on board the sign UN-174, and that none of the four crew members sustained any injuries while evacuating the aircraft.

The statement said the cause of the crash is not yet known. However, an aviation accident investigation team has been sent to Greenville .
