BREAKING NEWS :

Rep. Koah Diverts Employees' Salaries

By Helroz Zorleh

The Public Agenda has gathered that Nimba County Representative Evans Koah is diverting a good portion of salaries of people working in his office. According to the information, Koah, a UP partisan, has threatened to dismiss any of the employees who refuses to comply with his office regulation.

Reliable sources closed to the offices of Representative Koah, said without regards to the tough economic situation prevailing in the country, the Nimba County representative continued to use threat to consume the employees salaries.

Koah admitted the allegation during a press conference Thursday. He justified his action on ground that those working with him in Nimba County must be assisted through his office.

He could not give details of his action but said because he stay long in the US and has adopted the American policy which says one must give back to America what America gave them, it was good that those working in his office pay some amount of money for the development of his district.

Our sources maintained that the monies being deducted from the employees are unlawful and criminal. The sources indicated that there is no way that Koah can deduct legitimate salaries of government employees without reference to the relevant government agency.

The sources described the Nimba County lawmaker action as “corruption” and must be reprimanded.

The Nimba County District #6 Representatives told reporters that his action constitutes his commitment to the development of his county. “The monies we take from these people are nothing big to talk about. “We have been issuing to our Nimba county office staffers between L$1000 or L$1,800. “These are small amounts.” Representative Koah averred.

He told reporters that none of the employees has ever complained of his action and said he was very embarrassed when he heard from a colleague that the information was aired on a local radio.
