Lone Star Battles Algeria Today

The national soccer team, the Lone Star will today battle the Desert Warriors of Algeria in continuation of the 2010 World Cup and Nations Cup qualifiers. The Lone Star left the country on Monday for Morocco and arrived in Algiers on Wednesday.

The Liberians on last Sunday held the Scorpions of Gambia to a one all draw at the overcrowded Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.

Greek based Liberian midfielder, Oliver Makor 82 nd minute free kick, gave Coach Antoine Hey's side one point after Coach Paul Put boys took the lead through Mustapha Jarju in the 16 th minute of the first half from an Esiah Benson error.

Liberia midfield legend Kelvin Sebwe was dropped from the team by Coach Hey few hours before the Sunday match due to what was term as administrative reason.

In an interview after the match, the Coach said Kelvin demanded that he would only play if he was handed the captain armband.

“We played four international friendly matches before Kelvin arrived and Murphy Nagbe has been outstanding as captain and there is no need to change him now,” the German man stated.

“Kelvin is still part of the team if he will forget the captain band as the Lone Star captain, for now it's Murphy,” he said.

 

Reports reaching this paper from Algeria said Kelvin Sebwe has apologized to Coach Hey and is presently serving as the most senior player on the team.

Two foreign based strikers, Dioh Williams and Francis Grandpa Doe have been dropped from the Lone Star by Coach Hey. According to information, the coach has asked the FA to send them back to their clubs. The Coach took the decision when the two players failed to report to camp on time to depart for Algeria .
