Grand Gedeh University Students Commend Defense Team
The Grand Gedeh University Student Union (GGUSU) has expressed her heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the defense team of Liberia 's Armed Forces General Charles Julu and retired Cornell Andrew Dorbor for the legal humanitarian services provided Julu and Dorbor in the recent treason trial against the government of Liberia .
The students in a release said, they were disappointed over the statement issued by the Minister of Justice Cllr. Philip Banks that the ‘not guilty verdict' was predicated on the incompetence of the Judge Peter Gbeneweleh.
GGUSU said it thinks that the statement by the Minister was an affront to the judiciary branch of the Liberian government including the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Laws and the National Bar Association of Liberia.
According to the release, the students called on said institutions to peruse former actions against justice Minister Bank and the Solicitor of Liberia Cllr. Teawon Gongloe as their statements constitutes derogatory against judicial practitioners.
The press statement: “The Grand Gedeh University Student Union [GGUSU] says the people of Grand Gedeh County have no reason whatever to initiate conspire with any body t disrupt the relative peace and democracy the country is enjoying”
At the same time, the Campus based Student Integration Movement [SIM] of the University of Liberia has signed a memorandum of understanding between it and the Student Democracy Alliance [STUDA] which establishes the SIM-STUDA grand coalition for the purpose of contesting the schedule University of Liberia Student Union ULSU special elections.
According to a release the coalition is named and styled the “SIM-STUDA Coalition” and is under the CHANGE: An indisputable role map for transparent student governance.
The release also sated that the SIM-STUDA GRAND Coalition is the sine quo non to redeem the University from the over thirty years of decadence one party rule whose activities have been characterized with administrative and financial mal practices and corruption.
