Daimler Chrysler Cup Ends In Grand Style - two teams for international battles

The Olymp-Africa Village Sports pitch in Kemah Town ; Paynesville was a scene of two days entertaining football games among sixteen schools battled for the second edition of the Daimler Chrysler Cup.

On Saturday, June 7, 2008 over 500 fans and sports lovers were seen danced and celebrated when Corner Stone lifted the trophy. The champions went into battle in the grand final against J. L. Morris United Methodist School . The game ended three goals to zero.

A set of jersey was also given to the champions while a set of bit and trophy were given to J. L. Morris as second and Christ Love memorial Institute as third place winners respectively.

Corner Stone striker Elijah Davies collected the tournament highest goal scorer award as well as the most valuable player, while Sammy M. Dukuly School took the most Discipline team award and Christ Love Memorial Institute with the Fair play award.

Speaking to journalists after the tournament, the Village Director, S. Ahemd Tukpah said the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LONC) has been invited to participate in the International Daimler Chrysler Competition slated for Bamako , Mali , from Augusts to September of this year.

He said the smooth holding of the second edition of the Daimler Chrysler Cup in Liberia means the LNOC will send two teams to Bamako in two categories. The first category he said is from ages ranging from 12 to 13, and the second from 14 to 15 years.
