Contractor Absconds With US$10,00 Development Funds

An individual contractor, not named, has absconded with a cheque of US$ 10,000 given him to purchase materials for the construction of a school building in Grand Kru County .

Grand Kru County Senator, Blamoh Nelson told newsmen in Monrovia that the construction of the school was intended to benefit the people of Buah Statutory District in the county.

According to Senator Nelson, the Project Management Team (PMT) in the Buah Community contacted the contractor to purchase materials for the construction of the school.

Senator Nelson said following series of discussions with the contractor, an agreement was signed between the PMT and the contractor to undertake the construction of a school building.

He noted that since the cheque of US$ 10,000 was given to the contractor to purchase materials in Monrovia , he is yet to be found. He said the situation has caused a setback for the people of Buah District.

The Grand Kru Senator however said he is optimistic that the contractor will be found. He stated that the Buah community in Monrovia is making every effort to locate the contractor.
